October 31st, Chicago Tribune Staff:
As temperatures drop, our craving for comforting, hearty dishes heats up. Appropriately, Food & Dining is spending October hunting down Chicago's best noodle dishes, from Italian pastas to Japanese ramen and everything in between.
Look, pasta is great and can evidence a certain visual appeal, but it lacks a certain … showmanship. Not so the fettuccine ($22.75) at Stefani prime, where the piping-hot noodles are tossed in the hollow of a 20-pound wheel of grana Padano cheese (melting a fair amount of that cheese in the process) before being mixed a second time with mushrooms, chopped speck and shallot cream. Showtime! And, if you attempt to finish off this massive dish by yourself, nap time. 6755 N. Cicero Ave., Lincolnwood, 847-696-6755; stefaniprime.com -- Phil Vettel
