Phil Stefani — along with wife Karen and children Anthony and Gina — have opened a restaurant minutes from their home today in Lincolnwood as today’s the first official day of business forStefani Prime. Billed as a restaurant worthy of Chicago’s dining scene, only in the suburbs, Prime brings together steaks, seafood, and classic Italian-American dishes. It looks to be a blend of Phil Stefani’s old-school experience with the new energy his children have infused into recent openings at Bar Cargo in River North and MAD Social in the West Loop.
The offerings from former David Burke’s Primehouse chef Nolan Narut feature steaks like a 36-ounce bone-in tomahawk ribeye. Seafood selections include seared ahi and a seafood tower of raw items. Short-rib raviolocci and chicken Vesuvio add some classic flair.
The restaurant’s main dining room has space for 90 seats and the bar area has room for 80. Karen Stefani’s catering company should have plenty of work thanks to the two private event spaces. There’s also a patio with room for 60 that opens later this spring.
It’s a new era for Lincolnwood as Stefani Prime stands where Kow Kow, a suburban Chinese icon, stood for 65 years. See if the Stefanis can defend their home turf starting today.
Stefani Prime, 6755 N. Cicero Avenue, open 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday through Thursday; 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday; 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Sunday.
